WP Foundry is a desktop WordPress management application for Windows, macOS, and Linux. You use it to look after plugins, themes, users, updates, backups, and security checks across the WordPress sites you already control — without opening each wp-admin in a browser.
It is software you install on your computer. There is no WP Foundry cloud account, and your site list stays on your machine.
Who makes it
WP Foundry is developed by Mike Beck, an independent developer based in Whanganui, New Zealand. The product website is wpfoundry.app.
When it launched
WP Foundry was first released publicly in early 2024, after several years of private use. It is an active desktop product with downloads for Mac, Windows, and Linux.
What it does
- Update plugins, themes, and WordPress core
- Manage users and roles
- Run vulnerability checks against known plugin and theme issues
- Back up plugins, themes, databases, and wp-content
- Queue long jobs and keep a local command history

How it connects
On each WordPress site you install the WP Foundry Helper plugin and copy its shared secret. In the desktop app you paste the site URL and secret, then run a connection test. After that, WP Foundry talks to the site over HTTPS. You do not need SSH or a remote shell.
WP-CLI must be available on the server. The helper uses it to run the requested commands.
Supported operating systems
- Windows
- macOS (Intel and Apple silicon)
- Linux
How it differs from ManageWP, MainWP, and similar tools
ManageWP is a cloud dashboard. MainWP is a self-hosted WordPress dashboard you install on a server. WP Foundry is neither: it is a local desktop app. Credentials are not synced to a WP Foundry server, and you do not maintain a separate management WordPress site.
It is also not WordPress Multisite. WordPress Multisite is a core feature that runs many sites inside one WordPress install. WP Foundry manages ordinary, separate WordPress sites from your computer.
